Don't Stop Believing - 18th July 2010
Students
from Step Up took part in the Don't Stop Believing show on Channel 5
on 18th July 2010. Although they didn't get through they were
fantastic as you can see from the YouTube embed below:
We
had a really positive review in The
Observerwhich
said: "There
were two fabulous groups, notably Dice and Step Up, the latter's
version of "Think" being as good as the entire Blues
Brothers movie".
Well

Trinity Guildhall
All students in solo and group exams gained either Merit or Distinction. Over 150 students took exams from 4 years upwards and all did extremely well. Well done!
Lion King
We are pleased that Alyda Miller has had her contract renewed for a 4th time playing Nala in the Lion King.
Euro
Disney trip: October 2009
Well
done to all the students who travelled to Euro Disney in October to
compete in The European Festival of Dance and Performing Arts.
Nick
Robinson came 2nd in the Solo singing category.
1st
in the group singing category: Electra-Giorgia Mullard, Faith
Arinaitwe, Chloe Edwards with their rendition of "Don’t Let
Go".
2nd
in the group singing category Eboni Dixon, Kathryn Kitchener
and Courtney Rumbold singing "Three Little Maids" from The
Hot Mikado.
3rd
in the group singing category Ellie Wilcox and Holly Taylor
singing "Shadenfreude" from Avenue Q.
Step
Up also came 2nd in the Junior Musical Theatre Dance Category with
‘I Just Can’t Wait to be King’.
Over
40 students participated and it was a great weekend.
UK
Unsigned
All
winners from UK Unsigned competed in a winners final at the
Tabernacle in Notting Hill and Kathryn Kitchener came 2nd with her
rendition of ‘As Long As He Needs Me’. She will now perform in
the O2 in
November.
Theatre
Trips
We
have had 3 great Theatre trips this term. We all went to see Sister
Act in October. In November we went to see Steph Trott covering
Tracey in Hairspray in the West End. Stephi taught at Step Up for
many years. In December we went to see a current teacher at Step Up,
Minica Beason, perform in The Pied Piper at The Barbican Centre
The
Lion King
As
well as Alyda Miller, who is currently playing Nala in The Lion King,
Olivia Dean has now entered the Lion King Cub School.
All
Stars 2009
Well
done to all the winners at the All Stars contest. Many thanks to
Chloe Hart who judged the competition. Chloe is currently playing
Tracey in the West End version of Hairspray. Click

George
Ure Workshop: George
Ure from Wicked did a very successful workshop with the Step Up
students in November 2009. He taught them ‘What is this feeling’
and the students really enjoyed the experience.
Summer
Schools August 2009:
Well done to all those who took part in the Step Up Summer Schools.
All students completed successful productions of The Lion King and
Oliver.
Trinity
Guildhall exams:
Well done to all those who took exams in June. The results were
outstanding with a 100% pass rate with most students gaining a
distinction.
Paige
Jones Saunders
Well
done to Paige Jones-Saunders who took part in the Stratford Music
Festival recently. Paige achieved two first place distinctions, two
second place commended and one third place commended. Paige also won
a cup as the overall winner from three age groups ranging from 11 to
18 years.
The
Lion King
Well

Well done to Ross Goold who continues to perform in the West End

awards ceremony along with Kathryn Kitchener.
